Gea Casolaro, visual artist, lives between Rome and Paris.
Her works, through photography, video and writing, investigate our relationship with images, history, current events, society, urban landscapes and the people who live there.
Her research aims to make possible an on going dialogue between experiences and people, to increase our analytical skills and our knowledge of reality, through the awareness of other’s viewpoints.
In 2009, Gea Casolaro was artist in resident at the Cité Internationale des Arts of Paris to nine months, to work on her project Still hereabout relationship betweencinema anddaily life inthe French capital.
In 2011, on the occasion of the 54th Venice Biennale, she exhibited at the Italian Cultural Institute of Strasbourg a series of works on the theme of the borders and in 2012 she exhibit at Festival Images in Vevey, Suisse.
In 2013 Gea Casolaro has been three months artist in residence at the Italian Cultural Institute in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia; in the same year she realized two photographic commissioned missions: the first in Monaco (the work Forever Monte-Carlo has been showed at The Forbes Galleries in New York) and the second in Luxembourg at the CNA, Centre national de l’audiovisuel, where she realized a mail-art participatory exhibition titled Send Me a Postcard, a site aside, inside, in between, away.
